THE UGLY TRUTHS

Reading time: 12 minutes.

Hi everyone. Today is day 24 out of 31 days in August 2017. I’m delighted to take you an issue so-called: the ugly truth.

Let me define what the ugly truth is. As cited from answer.com, the ugly truth is determined as a reality that is painful to accept, but because it is known to be true, one must accept it. To make it short, the ugly truth is accepting the fact although it considerably hurts.

I listed the three top listed ugly truths, based on my knowledge.

Number one | People are different, do not fake to be similar to win someone’s favor. Well, we live among zillion types of peoples. Even the identical twins could be pretty different. It is also applicable in the market place. Peers, subordinates, and leaders generally have their own taste of working style. Some people tend to pretend that they like others’ ways of working, especially pretending to the leaders. Yes, we need to adjust their style of management. However, bootlicking is non-negotiable. Trust me, I’m sick of it. Likewise, it applies to immediate family, partner, circle, etcetera, etcetera. The point is being myself is my best version, while not forget to keep upgrading the quality to the next level.

Number two | Connect the dots of critics. It’s completely hard to accept others’ critics, including me. Nevertheless, the more I deal with my stakeholders, the more I am aware the benefits of feedback. For example, ever since my boss said that he didn’t like me responding his order by saying “OK, Pak”, I learnt to say “Baik, Pak” rather than “Ok, Pak”. Besides, once I was criticized about my appearance (messed up hair, etcetera, etcetera), I gradually fix the way I dress without violate my identity. In fact, critics are helpful. Not forget to mention, do never directly swallow all critics, but do filter as smart as we can because everything has two sides: either good or bad, including critics. Toast!

Number three | Money is more powerful than Almighty God. Ugh, it’s not new. Corruptions, collusion, and nepotism are not something new in the world. Unfortunately, we sometimes fall short to either one or two or all of those wrongs. Forging the facts (evidences) to gain certain amount of money is a public secret. They ignore God’s presence. Even, people cover their iniquities for the sake of God. They are building grey areas to obscure so-called corruptions, collusion, and nepotism. All I could do is ensuring that I am intimately and continuously surrounded by some right circles. The environment could be so evil, but the time I decided whom I befriend, I strictly need to be picky. Of course! The lesson learnt is there is no authority could be powerful than Christ’s. How it sounds?

In a nutshell, they all the ugly truths I dealt with. My must-to-do-list is ascertaining that I am excluded from the word “they”, and of course by not relying on my own power, instead by the power of Christ.

Can I ask you one important question, what is your worst ugly truth?
