🙋🏻♀️ Shalom, everyone. Good morning.
Today's devotion is taken from 1 Kings 1: 1- 53, entitled David. And by the way, I read the Message Bible Version.
The main story is about Fake vs. Real Coronation. The fake one was made by Adonijah, Hagith's son, while the actual coronation - confirmed by King David - was for Salomon, Bathsheba's son. In this context, that was the best time for David to succeed the throne to his son as David grew old.
Here I share two points that I resonate with throughout my devotion time. I hope they will benefit you.
✅ Point #1
Instead of puffing up, always ask & involve Jesus. I'm so tempted to make up something looking great when I'm actually too confident about the expected achievement. By reading what Adonijah did while he was puffing himself up by saying, "I'm the next king." (1 Kings 1: 5) - whereas it turned out that he was nothing - I was reminded that I don't need to look great by puffing up the expected result, by praising extravagantly what I'll attain ahead, instead, I need to continually ask & involve the King (Jesus Christ) whether I will achieve this and that and these and those.
✅ Point #2
Corroborating my story. This story started when Nathan, the prophet, came to Bathsheba, Salomon's mother, informing her about the Fake Coronation of Adonijah. Nathan stated an important message to me: "While Bathsheba was talking to King David, I'll come in and corroborate her story." (1 Kings 1: 14). The Word teaches me to learn how to corroborate my story when necessary. In the audit context, I'm also reminded to gather, and document corroborated shreds of evidence to provide actual and robust findings. It is also a sound alarm as I'm joining SPA at PT Flobamor Kupang. I believe I have learned something today, and God has personally plus gently taught & spoken to me this morning. I pray that it also goes the same for you.
Well, I'm done & see you soon. 👋
Be blessed,
