CERITA #4: MEMENTO, A SACRED MARRIAGE HAS JUST BEGUN (1/3)

Reading time: 7 minutes

Hi everyone.

What better way to attain of a personal fulfillment than with finding out your life partner (spouse)? One of the greatest achievements of my personal fulfillment is marrying to Mr. Wilmart Gultom. This post aims to create a memento concerning our sacred marriage in November 2017 ago.

My partner and I define marriage as a unity between a man and a woman based on Christ’s initiatives and a place to continuously consecrate us before God’s presence. Therefore, we value this marriage as one of the immeasurable gifts that God has poured out. Following is the summary of the holy matrimony and wedding procession themselves.

Our marriage was conducted at November 11, 2017. It comprised some steps, namely Marsibuha-Buhai, Holy Matrimony, Acara Adat Nagok (Complete Custom Event). Afterward the wedding processions, Paulak Une and Manikkir Tangga were also carried out. In throughout processions, family of bride was called parboru and family of  groom was named paranak.

Without further ado, let's get started!

Marsibuha-buhai was taken place at 9 a.m. at hall of church. Paranak brought namargoar (pork) to parboru's home then had breakfast together preceding the Holy Matrimony. Basically, this custom must be carried out at parboru's home.

Nevertheless, to optimize the time, the event was executed at hall of church. Besides, there was a moment that my mother fed me and my partner with Ikan Mas and rice. We also asked blessings from our parents and family so that the Holy Matrimony would be running well.

Moving forward, the holy matrimony was started at 11 p.m sharp. We were blessed at HKBP Indra Kasih Ressort Indra Kasih which was specifically located at Indra Kasih, Medan Tembung, Medan City, North Sumatra 20221. We were united in the name of Jesus Christ under Pastor Swardi Aruan, S.Th. The wedding's massage was taken from 1 Peter Chapter 3 verse 8, "Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble". In a nutshell, there are five substances we need in our lifetime marriage which are (1) like-minded, (2) sympathy, (3) love each other, (4) compassion, and (5) humility.

We afterward directly went to the hall to conduct Acara Adat Nagok (Complete Custom Event), Paulak Une and Manikkir Tangga. It was carried out at Wishma Mahinna Center which was located at Jalan Rela No.10, Sidorejo, Medan Tembung, Kota Medan, Sumatera Utara 20222. Here are some fave snaps along the wedding.

We were welcomed by the traditional dancers before coming in the hall. We love this snap because we could see all people witnessed our presence there. Also, we were together with our parents and immediate family. So lovely!

The other favored pose goes to the time we sang together. We picked two favorite songs which are Tetap Setia by Mike Mohede (Be faithful) and Teman Hidup by Tulus (Life Partner). We prayed that the lyrics keep echoing along our lives.

Ulos hela (in-law ulos). Yes, this is the most unwanted scene ever since my parents gone. Trust me, every efforts I made to not make me burst into tears totally failed. Nonetheless, through this moment, I was so thankful regarding all people surrounding us who support us to the fullest.

This was so entertaining. My inang (mother in-law) ordered me to take some gifts from the bucket. Without thinking twice, I instantaneously grabbed the envelopes as much as I could. Thank you inang!

This is it Manikkir Tangga (Climbing Up the Stairs). We were guided by parents to officially go up to the next level meaning our own household. We plead Christ's presence plus parents' and families' advice could enlighten us to become a Christ Like family now and to come. *
